Why was Paykit born?

I am Duong Mai Anh, the founder of Paykit. As I sit down to write these words, Paykit has just turned three years old. It feels like just yesterday when my team and I decided on the name and poured our hearts into building this product. Over the years, one question has consistently come up whenever Paykit is mentioned—whether in formal meetings with partners or casual chats over coffee with friends: “Why was Paykit born?”
When it comes to questions about my brainchild, I am always eager to answer. But before diving into why and how Paykit came to be, let me start with the story of Han—a dear friend of mine.
Han is a single mom. If I were to describe her, it would be with glowing adjectives: independent, resilient, and kind-hearted.
Her days are a constant race against time. Between raising her young daughter, running a pet food store, and rescuing abandoned cats and dogs, she barely has a moment to herself.
As a self-employed business owner, her responsibilities go far beyond selling products. From early mornings checking inventory and packaging orders to late nights replying to customer messages, Han juggles countless tasks. Then there are the inevitable challenges—lost shipments, tight finances, and endless questions about what’s best for her customers.
Regardless of the weather, Han rides her motorbike loaded with pet food, hoping to save on shipping costs. Though she’s intimidated by numbers, she’s had to become her own accountant, solving daily puzzles of increasing revenue, reducing costs, and balancing cash flow.
When I once asked Han what she feared most about running a business, her answer caught me off guard. She wasn’t afraid of rising material costs or fluctuating customer demand. Her greatest fear was falling ill and leaving everything unfinished. Every night, after her daughter and rescued animals were asleep, Han would lie awake thinking about how to make her business more efficient, less stressful, and ultimately give her more time to care for herself and the things she loves.
Watching her struggles—and reflecting on my own experiences as a business owner—I kept wondering: “How can I make life easier for people like Han?” That question sparked the beginning of Paykit.
What started as an idea took shape in meetings and became an ambitious project by the end of 2021. At first, my team and I envisioned Paykit as a payment gateway. But as we grew, we realized our brainchild had the potential to be so much more.
We constantly researched market needs to develop new features, updated our platform to meet the most stringent security standards, and worked tirelessly to optimize the user experience. Today, Paykit is more than just a tool—it’s a partner that automates the entire online selling process. From order management and payment processing to revenue tracking, analytics, and settlements, Paykit simplifies everything so business owners can focus on what matters most.
I have to admit, Paykit is not the first player in this field. However, we chose a path that sets us apart: catering not only to businesses but also to freelancers and business owners—those who need help the most but are often overlooked.
